Abstract

The study investigates the nature of job performance and also explore whether demographic differences exist in job performance using 140 employees of a public and private organisation, selected through the convenience sampling method. Descriptive statistics such as means and standard deviation and inferential statistics such as Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used to analyse the data collected. The results of the study indicate that the job performance level of the respondents was high. The results of the demographic variables show that demographic differencesexist in some dimensions of job performance except years of experience and current work position. Management of organisations should incorporate these findings in their strategies to improve the job performance of employees in their organisations. The caveat here is that much attention should not be given to only experienced employees when assigning roles since there is no significant difference between job performance and work experience.
